N. veitchii lower pitcher
Well known for its diversity, the variety of N. veitchii shown is comfortable in  a highland environment.  The pitchers and leaves of this specimen are quite hirsute, being thoroughly covered with rather coarse, brown hairs.  Cuttings of this species are, virtually without exception, easy to root.  The only difficulty associated with propagation of this species is waiting for the plant to grow large enough to produce material for cuttings.  It does grow large more rapidly than most highland Nepenthes, however.  The specimen pictured is nearly mature, having grown out from a 2.5 cm diameter seedling in approximately 2.5 years.
