N. spathulata lower pitcher
N. spathulata is an exceptional Nepenthes, with its broad, flared peristome.  Under good conditions, the peristome can even assume a metallic appearance!  This plant produces offshoots more easily than most Nepenthes, and cuttings are not more difficult to root than most highland species.  Plants reach maturity fairly quickly, doing so in two to three years.
